Hyaluronic acid (HA) filler is an injectable gel designed to restore volume, enhance facial contours, and create subtle, natural-looking balance. Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the body that attracts and holds water. When used as a dermal filler, HA gel can be strategically placed to enhance areas such as the lips, cheeks, chin, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and pre-jowl area. Depending on your goals, filler can replace age-related volume changes, soften folds and transitions, improve facial proportions, or simply provide a little enhancement where you want it. Unlike collagen-stimulating treatments that develop gradually, HA filler provides immediate results. However, immediate does not mean final. Swelling, tenderness, bruising, firmness, and temporary asymmetry can occur after injections, particularly in the lips. The filler also needs time to integrate and the surrounding tissue needs time to heal, so I recommend allowing approximately 2–4 weeks to appreciate your final result and planning treatment well in advance of important events. Results are temporary and longevity varies based on the product used, treatment area, amount injected, and individual metabolism. Depending on these factors, HA filler can last approximately 6–18 months or longer. Most importantly, dermal filler is a medical procedure. Although we want beautiful results, safety will always come first. Every treatment begins with an assessment of your anatomy, medical history, goals, and whether filler is appropriate for you. I use conservative, intentional placement and will never prioritize adding more product over a safe, natural result. The goal isn’t to change your face—it’s to enhance, balance, and refresh what’s already yours.
