Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) uses the regenerative components of your own blood to support healthier, rejuvenated skin. During treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn and processed in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma. Platelets contain growth factors and other bioactive proteins involved in your body’s natural healing and tissue-repair processes. The concentrated PRP is then carefully injected into targeted areas of the face or under-eyes. PRP can be used to improve the appearance of under-eye discoloration, skin tone, texture, fine lines, and overall skin quality. Because we are using components from your own blood, the goal is to stimulate your skin’s natural regenerative processes rather than add a synthetic filler. It’s important to understand that PRP is not a filler. Immediately after under-eye injections, the area may appear fuller because PRP is a liquid. Much of that fluid is naturally reabsorbed by the body, so this initial fullness is temporary. The true benefit develops gradually as the growth factors in PRP support skin repair and rejuvenation. PRP is also not a one-and-done treatment. For optimal results, I typically recommend a series of 3 treatments, spaced approximately 4–6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments as needed. Improvements develop gradually and vary depending on your skin, age, and individual concerns. The goal is not to dramatically change the under-eye—it’s to improve the quality of the skin itself for a brighter, smoother, healthier-looking appearance.
